Dr. Austin Stein is originally from Syosset New York on LongIsland, where he grew up with two younger brothers and a family dog. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles California. Following veterinary school, Dr. Stein completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn.

He thinks that the most important thing is the human animal bond and his role in maintaining it for his owners and patients. He currently resides in Gowanus, Brooklyn with his wife Brittany and labradoodle Duke. In his spare time he enjoys watching movies, reading, playing basketball and going on adventures with his friends and family.
